Manulife Asia Head to Become Canadian Insurer's Global CFO

Currently head of Manulife's Asian business, Philip Witherington will be promoted to CFO of the entire company in 2018, replacing retiring CFO Steve Roder.

Manulife is the largest insurer in Canada and has a significant presence in Asia.

Hong Kong-based Witherington joined Manulife in 2014 as CFO for Asia before being promoted to head the Asia-Pacific unit. He was previously with HSBC, where he last helmed the finance division for its retail banking and wealth management global business in Asia-Pacific.

Before that, Witherington was VP of Finance at AIA Group in Hong Kong after a decade at KPMG’s London and Hong Kong offices, focusing on financial services audit and advisory services.
