Job seekers from Singapore are most likely to move overseas for career opportunities, said Hays on Tuesday.
According to the results of the recruitment firm’s latest web poll conducted between June and September 2018, 86% of respondents from Singapore confirm that they are currently looking at overseas opportunities.
Respondents in Mainland China were close behind with 85%.
These results narrowly contrast with Hong Kong where only 74% of respondents are looking for work overseas. Another 6% indicate they confine their job search only to Hong Kong while 20% would be open to an opportunity overseas if there’s a suitable role.
In Malaysia, 68% of job hunters cast their net internationally.
“The recruitment market in Asia today is a lot more fluid and international in flavor with greater movement of top talent between key cities,” said Dean Stallard, Managing Director of Hays Greater Bay Area.
“Candidates moving overseas for a few years could also find themselves back home before long but with more valuable experience under their belt enabling them to secure a more senior role,” he added.
