Institute of Chartered Accountants of Indonesia Now a Member of Chartered Accountants Worldwide

The Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants (IAI) has been awarded Associate membership by Chartered Accountants Worldwide. IAI is the fifth professional body to be admitted to the organization since it was launched in February 2013.

As an Associate member, IAI joins a group of globally-recognized Chartered Accountancy bodies that are committed to enhancing the value of the brand and the profession. Its membership recognises the importance of the qualification in Indonesia and demonstrates IAI’s commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards.

Chartered Accountants have been a mark of excellence in the accountancy and business sectors for over 150 years. They are working in over 200 different countries across the world.

By joining Chartered Accountants Worldwide, IAI will boost its international presence and contribute to the further development of the profession. It will also open up access to events and networking opportunities for its members.

IAI was established in 1957 to guide the development of the accountancy profession in Indonesia and improve the quality of accountancy education and professional standards. Headquartered in Jakarta, IAI maintain regional representative offices in 33 provinces of Indonesia. Since 2011 it has been recognized as the permanent secretariat of ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA).

Raise standards of Indonesia’s professional accountants

“The Chartered Accountant (CA) Indonesia qualification was established to raise the standards of professional accountants in Indonesia,” says Professor Mardiasmo, President of IAI.

“Membership with and recognition from Chartered Accountants Worldwide is a key milestone in IAI’s continuous efforts to further strengthen the CA Indonesia qualification, with the broader aim to build the capacity of professional accountants in the country and be ready with the ever-changing regional and global environment.

“IAI and I believe accountants in Indonesia welcome the opportunity to work together with Chartered Accountants Worldwide and its members, to strengthen the role of the accountancy profession and influence the future of the global profession.”

Michael Izza, ICAEW Chief Executive, said: “Chartered Accountants Worldwide, of which ICAEW is a founder member, is an international body that brings together institutes from across the globe to promote the Chartered Accountants brand and support our members. Chartered Accountants are right at the heart of business and play a vital role throughout the global economy and we are committed to working together with like-minded organizations to further this.”

By joining Chartered Accountants Worldwide as an Associate member, IAI with over 35,000 members ensures the global expansion of the organization.
