Beijing-based internet giant Baidu has named Herman Yu, a former executive of the Nasdaq-listed Weibo Corp, as its Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.
The appointment follows the departure of Jennifer Li, who will head Baidu Capital, a private equity firm focused on artificial intelligence (AI) opportunities. Li will continue as a senior adviser to the company, Baidu said.
Yu served as Weibo’s CFO since 2015. Before that, he worked for Chinese Internet portal Sina Corp, the operator of Weibo from 2004 to 2015. Yu began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP and has also held various finance and accounting management positions at Adobe Systems Inc., Cadence Design Systems Inc. and VeriFone Systems Inc.
Yu holds an master’s degree in accountancy from the University of Southern California.
