44% of Singapore’s Job Applicants Optimistic That the Job Market Will Get Better in the Next 6 Months

While 35% of job applicants in Singapore are positive about the current economic situation, a bigger proportion (49%) foresee a better economic situation in the next 6 months, according to the Page Personnel Singapore Job Applicant Confidence Index 2017.

The study also found that 30% are positive about the job market, while 44% are optimistic that the job market will get better in the next 6 months.

The top 3 areas professionals are optimistic of in the next 12 moths are skills development (66%), expansion in scope of functions (58%), and promotion prospects (46%).

Another finding is that 55% are confident of securing a job in less than 3 months.

The 3 reasons why professionals switch jobs are skills development (39%), work-life balance (28%), and lack of growth prospects (24%).

A majority (71%) of applicants surveyed by the report have more than 5 years of work experience, and most (70%) are aged between 25 to 50 years old.
