Social Insurance Benefits for Foreigners Working in China

Businesses and state-owned companies in China will be required to pay insurance for their foreign employees once the Social Insurance Law takes effect in July 2011, reports the China Daily.

Insurance foreign workers will be entitled to include: basic endowment insurance, basic medical insurance, worker injury insurance, unemployment insurance and maternity insurance.

Citing the law, the Daily says employers will pay worker injury insurance for workers at a rate to be decided by the State Council, or the cabinet, depending on how dangerous their jobs are.

Most companies in Beijing currently do not pay any kind of insurance for their foreign workers, says the Daily.
