The SEA CFO Survey: Risk Defined

This report from Deloitte Southeast Asia focuses on how the role of the CFO has evolved due to increasing regulation and compliance issues. The report is based on a survey that took place in the final quarter of 2013.
The survey shows that CFOs in the Southeast Asia region are again spending more time in their operator and steward roles instead of focusing on strategy, due to the global economic uncertainty. Compliance, China’s economic slowdown and the stability of the financial market are ranked the top stressors.
Key Findings
  • 44% of CFOs are more optimistic about the future compared to previous quarters
  • 72% of CFOs are much more involved in risk management compared to 12 months ago
  • 90% of CFOs say the top risk reduction strategy is strengthen internal controls framework
