China Offers US US$200 Billion Cut in Trade Deficit, Source Says

While Trump said he doubted if the trade talks with China now held in Washington would succeed, an anonymous US official was quoted by different media reports as saying China has already offered Trump a US$200 billion cut in it annual trade surplus by buying more American products and other measures.

Another person familiar with the talks was citied as saying in a Reuters report that the trade deficit reduction package may also include some elimination of Chinese tariffs already in place on about $4 billion worth of American farm products including fruit, nuts, pork, wine and sorghum.

China also separately announced Friday that it would end its anti-dumping and an-subsidy investigation into imports of US sorghum, citing public interest.
