Improving Economy Hikes Ad Spending in Hong Kong

Hong Kong's improving business environment is driving advertising spending among companies, especially those in the banking and property sectors, reports the South China Morning Post.

Citing media-monitoring firm admanGo, the Post reveals that total advertising spending in the first quarter of 2010 rose 24% to HK$6.74 billion from HK$5.45 billion a year ago.

The Post writes that television was still the favorite medium for advertisements, contributing the bulk of revenue at HK$2.49 billion in the first quarter; but spending on online media and newspapers registered the highest growth rate year on year at 59% and 32%, respectively.
