Australian School is Asia's Highest-Ranked Business School

The Faculty of Business and Economics of Hong Kong University is 2nd in the Asian ranking of The Economist magazine's 9th global ranking of full-time MBA programmes. Asia's top business school is the Melbourne Business School of University of Melbourne.

In 3rd place is The School of Business and Management at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology followed by Monash University's Graduate School of Business (4th). Another Australian school, Macquarie Graduate School of Management, is ranked 5th.

Singapore's Nanyang Technological University's Nanyang Business Schoolis now ranked sixth in Asia.

According to The Economist, the highest-ranked Asian and Australasian schools have had a testing year because of a difficult jobs market.

At Melbourne Business School—the region’s top-ranked—graduates’ salaries have  fallen. At Hong Kong University, meanwhile, students found jobs in only five different industry sectors; last year’s score was 11.

On a global scale, six of the top 10 schools were in the United States with the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago at number one while Harvard Business School was fourth. None of Asia's business schools landed in the top 10.

The Economist ranks full-time programmes on their ability to provide students with the things that they themselves cite as most important. It weights each element according to the average importance given to it by students surveyed over the past five years. These elements include the opening of new career opportunities, personal development and educational experience, increase in salary and the potential to network.
