A 71-year old Taiwanese wants to buy American International Group's Taiwan unit if an existing US$2.2 billion bid from a Chinese company is turned down by Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission, reports Reuters.

 

Wang Shih-jung, a former diplomat, reveals he has lined up a US$2.5 billion bid for Nan Shan Life Insurance Co. Ltd. Wang told Reuters the money will come from Japanase investors, a Qatari fund, and Taiwanese banks.
