Singapore Surpasses HK, U.S. as Most Competitive Economy

Singapore is the world's most competitive economy, narrowly followed by Hong Kong and the U.S., says a study conducted by Swiss business school IMD.

 

Citing the IMD, the Straits Times says that "Singapore and Hong Kong displayed great resilience through the crisis... and are now taking full advantage of strong expansion in the surrounding Asian region."

 

The Times notes that this year's global rankings is the first time since 1994 that the U.S. has failed to lead the race in economic competitiveness.
