2012, May 23 Singaporean companies who send their low-wage workers for training will get a subsidy of up to 95% of an employee's wages, says the Straits Times.
Under the government's Workfare Training Support (WTS) scheme, workers will also receive allowance for attending upgrading courses and cash when they complete their training.
The Times says the new scheme aims to make sure the poor are appropriately skilled as the island nation pushes for economic growth by raising productivity.
