Singapore companies that are performing well are being encouraged by the National Wages Council (NWC) to reward their employees with a pay rise, says the Straits Times.

Citing the NWC, the Times says that businesses that are still recuperating are being encouraged to "give variable payments instead of a pay rise."

The NWC stresses that increases should be tied to the performance and prospects of employers.
