Once Taiwan's Industrial Innovation bill becomes a law, companies that innovate and cultivate talent to create jobs may be eligible to receive incentives regardless of their size or nature of business, reports The China Post, citing Premier Wu Den-yih.
The Post says Wu has stressed the bill does not favor big multinational corporations. Wu reveals that clauses in the bill stipulating that only those among the world's 500 biggest enterprises with operations in Taiwan can apply for the 15% corporation income tax break have been deleted.
According to the Post, Taiwanese companies have threatened to move their headquarters out of Taiwan if the Legislative Yuan granted the tax break only to multinational corporations.
