Obama, Hu Promise Cooperation Amid Trade Friction

Amid frictions over trade, currency and human rights, U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao vow to increase cooperation between the two countries, reports Bloomberg.

 

According to Bloomberg, Obama credits China for playing a key role in leading the world out of a recession.“The relationship between the United States and China has never been more important to our collective future,” says Obama in an appearance with Hu at the Great Hall of the People.

 

For his part, Hu says both parties will work on easing “trade frictions,” says Bloomberg. The Chinese leader also stresses the two countries “need to oppose and reject protectionism in all its manifestations.”
