Japan Considers Expanding Corporate Tax Base

After announcing it plans to slash corporate tax rates, Japan's Prime Minister Naoto Kan is now looking into widening the corporate tax base, reports The Japan Times.

 

The Japanese newspaper says that Kan's remarks suggests that he may assess preferential taxation for some sectors. The remarks also counteracts presumptions that the Democratic Party of Japan is planning to double the 5% consumption tax to cover the loss in revenues.
