Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Elects New President

The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants elected Keith Pogson as President and Chiu Lai Kuen, Susanna, and Chan Kam Wing, Clement as vice presidents for 2012 at its 39th annual general meeting.

 

Pogson has served on the Institute's council for six years and was elected vice president in 2011. Chiu and Chan joined the council in January 2004 and December 2006 respectively.

 

Pogson is a managing partner, financial services (Asia Pacific), of Ernst & Young. Since joining the council, he has served on many committees, including as chairman of the professional conduct committee and deputy chairman of auditing and assurance standards committee, both of which are fundamental to the regulatory and standard setting roles of the Institute. He has also been involved in various other committees, accountability boards and advisory panels since 2005.

 

Chiu is a director of Li & Fung Development (China) Ltd. and Chan is a managing director of BDO Limited.

 

Newly elected but returning members to the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs' council are Chan Mei Bo, Mabel, Ding Wai Chuen, Raphael, and Kung Yiu Fai, Ronald. Lam Chi Yuen is a newly elected member and Law Cheuk Kin, Stephen, was last term a co-opted member.

 

For lay members, the government has reappointed Edith Shih, head group general counsel and comany secretary of Hutchison Whampoa, and appointed Fung Hau Chung, Andrew, executive director and head of treasury and investment of Hang Seng Bank Limited, for a term of two years commencing 15 December 2011.

 

Fung replaces John C. Poon who has retired from the council after serving for six years. Two continuing government-appointed lay members are Catherine K.C. Leung, vice chairman, Asia and head of Hong Kong investment banking of J.P. Morgan Securities (Asia Pacific) Limited, and Ambrose Cheung Wing Sum, executive director of Lai Sun Development. They will carry on with the second year of their terms.
