A former administrative assistant of the University of Hong Kong has admitted to using corporate credit cards to make personal purchases and embezzling more than HK$3 million from the Skills Development Centre between 2004 and 2006, says the South China Morning Post.
The newspaper notes that June Chan Sau-hung, 42, "spent HK$1.6 million on shopping and gained cash of HK$1.45 million with two credit cards which were intended to be used for settling expenses incurred by the centre."
Chan, who was stressed from a failed marriage and workload, also falsified bank slips to transfer money from the centre's different bank accounts to settle money she spent with the credit cards, says the Post.
