CIMA (the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) recruited a record number of new students last year, with over 23,000 embarking on their journey to become fully qualified chartered management accountants.
The growth was consistent across all of CIMA’s traditional key markets, including the UK and Sri Lanka, which saw increasing numbers of graduates and school leavers choosing to study CIMA.
In Pakistan, student numbers doubled for the second year in succession, following the opening of a second country office in Lahore.
CIMA reported a year on year student growth of 72% in China, where strong relationships have been forged with some of the country’s most reputable universities. These partnerships have meant that the universities include the CIMA syllabus in their curriculum, ensuring high quality entrants to the programme and a sustainable teaching model.
"2010 has seen CIMA’s largest ever student annual intake and largest year on year rise to date. The figures go to show that in challenging economic times, graduates and school leavers are taking no chances with their future careers and are choosing to study for a qualification that will equip them with the skills and expertise to become the business leaders of the future," says Ray Perry, executive director.
