China's plans to tighten product-safety rules could increase production costs of manufacturers, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Accordint to the Journal, the Chinese government aims to provide manufacturers with safety and testing standards developed in cooperation with the U.S. and the European Union. The move aims to eliminate defective and dangerous exports and ease trade tensions between China and the U.S.
More stringent rule means manufacturers would have to increase testing on materials and product functionality, pushing up production costs.
