Claiming nylon imports have damaged the domestic industry, China’s Ministry of Commerce is set to impose tariffs of up to 36% for US imports of nylon 6, or polycaprolactam, reported The Wall Street Journal.

According to the newspaper, the ministry would require importers to pay deposits on nylon 6 imported from foreign companies that sell the material in China for less than a fair price.

Tariffs will also be imposed on nylon 6 from the European Union, Russia and Taiwan, but at much lower rates, said the Journal.
