ASEAN Establishes Forum to Tackle Tax Issues

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have created a forum on taxation involving the tax authorities of all member states, reports Tax-News.com.

 

At a meeting in Indonesia, ASEAN Finance Ministers urged closer co-operation and co-ordination between the central bank and finance ministry of each member state, as well as between member states. The Finance Ministers call for the full exchange of information on tax regimes and instruments among member states, as well as work on the particular issues raised by the avoidance of double taxation and withholding taxes.

The forum will meet in 2011 under the chairmanship of the Philippines and coordination of the ASEAN Secretariat, says Tax-News.com.
